| Lying south of Savannah's Historic District, the Victorian Planned Neighborhood Conservation District represents prominent architecture from the early 19th century. The Review Process A Certificate of Compatibility is required for all exterior changes visible from the public right of way, new construction or demolition, or signage within the Victorian District boundaries. The process begins with an Application Submittal. For minor items, such as existing item repairs, color change, and the like, the City Preservation Officer can issue the Certificate of Compatibility, more complex items or new construction from the ground up and requests for demolition of historic structures require approval of the Metropolitan Planning Commission. The Metropolitan Planning Commission meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 1:30 pm in the Metropolitan Planning Commission's Arthur A. Mendonsa Hearing Room. The meeting is open and the public is welcome to attend and comment. For applications that require Metropolitan Planning Commission approval, the timeframe from submittal to approval is approximately two months.
