Earth Day 2005

Earth Day Festival in Forsyth Park

Mark your calendars for running, recycling and educational family fun on Saturday, April 16, 2005 with beautiful Forsyth Park as the focal point for the day.

Recycling Anyone?
Start the day by contributing to the reduction of landfill use and protecting our groundwater by bringing those hard to recycle items to the annual Savannah Electric/LEPC Recycle Rama. This convenient one day, drive-thru recycle center will be at the south end of Forsyth Park (enter Park Ave. from Drayton St) from 8 AM until Noon. Get rid of old paint, motor oil, batteries, cell phones, printer cartridges, aluminum, metals, glass, and used eyeglasses. Goodwill will also be on hand to take donations of clothes, furniture and old computers. Also, for more information about recycling, please visit www.savannahnow.com/recycling.

Festival Time!
After dropping off your recyclables, head over to the park for excitement, fun and informative events at the annual City of Savannah /Jiffy Lube Earth Day Festival in the Park. See the Disc-Associated Frisbee Dogs (sponsored by MPC), Earth Mama, Less Waters, Savannah Electric’s Louie the Lightning Bug, GSU Birds of Prey, touch tanks, and over 80 exhibitors and activities. The festival will run from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Family Fun Run!
Come enjoy some fresh air and healthy exercise around Forsyth Park. Join the Chatham County 4-H Earth Day Family Fun Run at 10 AM on the east side of Forsyth Park. The run will feature a 5 K run/walk around the park before the festival begins. For more information or to register, call 652-7981.
