Comprehensive Plan

The Comprehensive Plan was adopted in the Fall of 2006 by the Chatham County Board of Commissioners and the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah. The Comprehensive Plan represents the first phase of the two-part Tricentennial Planning Process. The Unified Zoning Ordinance, which is currently underway, is the second phase.

The Comprehensive Plan consists of three component documents: the Community Assessment Report , the Community Agenda Report, and the Community Participation Program.

The Community Assessment is an analytical document that assesses the community in a variety of planning-related areas such as population, economic development, housing, natural and cultural resources, and transportation. The Community Assessment is a useful resource for people who are looking for basic information about Savannah and Chatham County.

The Community Agenda is a policy-based document that identifies issues, opportunities, and priorities. The Community Agenda is intended to serve as a guide for future growth and policy decisions. It contains the Community Vision, the Future Development Map, and the Strategic Plan.

The Community Participation Program summarizes the process that was used to collect public input for the draft Comprehensive Plan before it was completed.
