As part of the initial public participation phase of the Non-motorized Transportation Plan, MPO staff has launched an interactive map and online surveys, in order to guage bicyclists' and pedestrians' needs and preferences. We encourage you to participate fully by visiting each of these links:

The CORE MPO conducted Call or Projects in May 2010 for Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) and New Freedom (NF) funds of federal fiscal year 2010 and developed Program of Projects (POP) in June after proposal evaluation. CORE MPO staff is inviting the public to attend a drop-in where citizens may mark their knowledge of bicycle and pedestrian issues or destinations on the available maps.

The MPO is requesting qualified consultants to submit proposals for three special studies. For details, please click here.

The CORE MPO Board adopted the new long range transportation plan on Sept. 17, 2009. To access the plan document, please click here.

CORE MPO has certified ARRA funds for transit improvements in Savannah, GA. For more information, please click here.

On April 30, 2009 the CORE Board adopted the revised Coordinated Public Transit - Human Services Transportation Plan for the Savannah Area (HST) and the Program Management Plan (PMP). The Coordinated Plan identifies the transportation needs of the disabled, the elderly, and the economically disadvantaged and provides prioritized strategies for implementation to meet these needs. The Program Management Plan outlines how the Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) and the CORE MPO conduct the coordinated planning process, grant application and administration. In March 2009, CORE MPO invited eligible agencies to submit project proposals for public transit – human services project funding. Five proposals have been received. The Stakeholder Resource Group evaluated all the proposals and recommended allocating funds to the projects in April 2009. A Program of Projects (POP) has been developed. CORE MPO will host the 2009 Conference for the national Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO), October 27-30. For more information about the event and how to submit a presentation, click here.

CUTS/MPO invited eligible agencies to submit project proposals for public transit – human services project funding in July 2008. The Call for Project document can be viewed here. At the end of the advertisement process, the Stakeholder Resource Group evaluated all the received proposals against the established criteria. The resulting Program of Projects can be viewed here.

CUTS/MPO has approved the proposed amendments to the FY 2008-2011 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) at the June 25, 2008 meeting. To review the TIP amendments, please click here.

At their May 7, 2008 meeting, CUTS/MPO adopted the fiscal year 2009 Unified Planning Work Program. To review the document, please click here.

At their April 23, 2008 meeting,CUTS/MPO adopted the Year of Expenditure (YOE) Financial Plan Update for the MPO's 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan. To review the YOE update document, please click here.

The Georgia Planning Association awarded CUTS/MPO for Innovative and Effective Planning Process for development of the Transportation Amenities Plan and Context Sensitive Design Manual. At their October 24, 2007 meeting,CUTS/MPO adopted the Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan. To review the plan, please click here.

At the June 27, 2007 MPO meeting, the CUTS/MPO adopted the revisions to the 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan in compliance with the SAFETEA-LU legislation. To review this document, please click here. At the June 27, 2007 MPO meeting, the CUTS/MPO adopted the FY 2008-2011 Transportation Improvement Program. On August 22, 2007, the MPO approved the amendments to the TIP. To review the finalized document, please click here. At their annual awards ceremony, the Pedestrian Advocates of the Coastal Empire (PACE) recognized the MPO for the adoption of Context Sensitive Design Guidelines. The CUTS/MPO staff hosted the Fall 2006 Georgia MPO Conference in Savannah December 4-5. Transportation Planning staffs from Georgia’s urbanized areas (MPOs), GDOT, FHWA, SRTA and consultants convened at the Westin Savannah Harbor for two days of information sharing and fellowship. On October 25, 2006 the MPO board acted on amendments to the 2030 LRTP and the Chatham County Bikeway Plan regarding transportation enhancement projects and bikeway proposal on Back River Bridge. Please click here for more details.

In March 2005, the MPO underwent its first triennial certification review of the local transportation planning process with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
